Heyzing biography
Johan Huizinga; - The Dutch philosopher, historian, cultural researcher, professor of Groningen - and Leiden Universities. Huyzing was born on December 7 in Groningen, in the family of a priest-mannita.
He studied the history of Indo -European literature and the general history. In the year he defended his dissertation dedicated to the image of the Vidushaki in the Indian drama. In the year he received the post of professor of Groningen University, where he taught up to a year. Then he moved to Leiden University and remained his professor up to a year, when the German occupation authorities forbade him to teach for negative reviews about Nazism and anti -Semitism.
During the years of the German-fascist occupation of the Netherlands, the scientist was arrested and concluded from August to October of the year in a concentration camp, after which he was forbidden to live in Leiden. He died on February 1 near the city of Arnem in the house of his colleague at the University of Rudolf Clevering. Huyzing gained worldwide fame thanks to research on the history of the Western European Middle Ages and Renaissance.
