Please tell us about yourself. How and when did you understand that you want to connect your life with music? I was born on October 30 in the village of Chpir Kusarsky district. She graduated from high school there. Since childhood, I had a great interest in music. Constantly hummed something under her breath. Soon my love of music was noticed by school teachers.

Already in the 5th grade, they created the conditions for me so that I could sing at school and district events. I performed at almost all events held in the area. By the reaction of the audience, I understood that I seemed to sing well. It was then that I decided that music is exactly what I would do, what I can find myself in. Is this so and what is the reason for this choice?

Yes, really. Since childhood, I listened and sang just such music, akin to this style. Most of the songs she wrote are saturated with folk motifs, so I became even closer to this genre. In addition, such songs are much closer to me in spirit, they are my relatives. Of course, everyone has different tastes, they do not argue about them. Of course, there are those who do not like my work.

This is fine. Music in itself is an important part of culture. The ability to listen to it also requires a certain culture. Any performer must first correctly present it to his listeners in order to have the right to adequate assessment of the listeners. I admit to you that I began to sing songs by Sedaget Kerimova, not because she is the head of the ensemble.

Long before a personal acquaintance with her, I listened for hours, her songs, melodies that were different from many. Read her verses. Each line in her verses carries a deep meaning. I, like all connoisseurs of musical art, appreciate not only a melody in the songs, but also a word. If in the words of the song that I sing will not make sense, I can’t fulfill it with my soul, I will not be able to convey it to my listeners.

Unfortunately, many are now stamping songs for completely empty verses if it can be called poems, cheap “music” and spoil the taste of young people, which grows on such “works”. Probably, it will be necessary to state the fact that the state of the modern Lezgi stage is not encouraging. What is your opinion? And is it necessary to adapt to the tastes of modern youth, try to "pure" traditional music?

Of course, this cannot be said in relation to the whole youth. For example, most of my listeners are the young people. They closely monitor my work and demand from me new songs precisely in the genre in which I sing. To tell the truth, so far no one has asked me why I did not turn to other genres in my work. I think because youth still like songs in this genre, they understand it.

As for the genres you marked, they are alien to me, I am too far from them. Everything is relative. Of course, I will say that young people need to be listed mainly by folk music, join their native culture, and if the same question is to ask young people who are fascinated by modern music genres, they will most likely call us incompetent, say that there is a need, there is a demand for such music.

And each of us will be right. Therefore, I think the dispute on this issue is pointless. You need to respect all tastes. What role did this Honored Lezgin team from the Azerbaijan Republic play in your formation as a singer? Of course, played a huge role. I must note that it was after I became part of the ensemble that our leader Sedaget Kerimova was able to give me the right direction to receive musical education.

In years, I graduated from the Baku music college and finally became a performer with a musical education. In the ensemble, I found out what a large scene was, I began to ride festivals, participate in concerts with a huge number of spectators. I learned the taste of applause - an incomparable feeling. You can imagine how strong the impetus for development it was for a very young singer.

It was the strong foundation that was laid down in the Suvar ensemble, I owe the second place that took the Musical East at the Moscow International Music Festival in Moscow, as well as the Number One Awards, which I was awarded in Baku in the year. I will always be grateful to Allah for making me part of a large family under the name “Suvar”. Are there any opportunities for preserving the native language, the development of Lezgi culture, including music and theater, study and popularize history?

It is known that the same Samur Center for many years has been operating exclusively by enthusiasts for private funds. At the same time, in Russia, in Dagestan, in particular, national culture and education, including in Azerbaijani, are funded from the state budget. In Azerbaijan, the traditions of multiculturalism are strong. This question is easier to answer with facts. I'll start just with our ensemble.

For 21 years from the very first day, the ensemble gave concerts in almost all the large halls of Baku. For many years, the ensemble has a dance school. I often receive invitations from various television channels, where I perform songs in Lezgin. There is a Lezgin Drama Theater, which, as you know, was on tour in Moscow last year. They also actively work, promoting folk culture to the masses.

In the areas of compact residence, Lezgin conducts Lesginsky language lessons, of course, not of the same high level as we would like, but still. The Samur newspaper, whose editor is also a respected sedaget Kerimov, has been published in Baku for 25 years. By the way, I want to share good news with you. Soon shooting will begin the first full -length feature film in Lezginsky under the leadership of Sedaget Kerimova.

Casting was recently held, they already distributed a script. All this suggests that, if desired, there is no obstacle to develop a culture. Of course, not everything is perfect, but if there is a desire to create something, to improve something, if you stubbornly strive for something, everything will always work out. Is it worth the numerous fans of your talent to wait for new songs and incendiary motifs?

I work on new songs. Some are already ready, they still need to work on others. I will present about 10 new songs to my listeners over the next month. At the same time, I work on a few old folk songs that were once loved, but now, unfortunately, undeservedly forgotten. I want to breathe life into them again. In other words, a lot is expected in my work. Two solo concerts should take place soon.

Please tell us more about it. In Moscow, this is my first solo concert, therefore, to admit honestly, I am very worried. And at the same time, I have confidence that fans of my work will support me on such a significant day for me.

Jamila is a biography

It is also worth noting that guests will also perform at the concert, there will be dance numbers. In short, dear Lezghins of Moscow and the Moscow Region, April 9, I will wait for you all! Currently, we are diligently rehearsing, preparing, worrying. It is at this concert that my new songs, which I spoke above, will sound for the first time. The musicians of the Suvar ensemble will come to the stage with me.

I want to note that the execution will be exclusively alive, no phonogram. I consider the use of phonograms during solo concerts impermissible, this is a disrespect for listeners. And on May there will be my solo concerts in Baku. The Lezghins of Azerbaijan, in particular, the cities of Baku, are very actively involved in events regarding Lezgi culture, for which I am immensely grateful to them.

Can folk music be part of that fastening solution that will not allow the Lezgins of Russia and Azerbaijan? Of course, I think the holding of such events is very important and necessary. Music is a bridge that brings people together. About two years ago, I performed a lullaby song in Lezginsky, to words and music Sedaget Kerimova. And in the storyline of the 4-minute clip, which, by the way, she also directed, we tried to convey the Lezginsky flavor.

I must say, the result exceeded our expectations. If you knew how many reviews we received, how many kind words they wrote to us. Someone wrote that it was as if he was listening to childhood, someone that the child falls asleep only under this song.
