There was no Muravyov on Senate Square and in general in St. Petersburg at the time of the Decembrist uprising - together with his wife they were at that time in the family estate, but he was arrested by denunciation as one of the leaders of a secret society. Nikita Muravyov was convicted of the first category, and sentenced to hard labor for a period of 20 years. Later, in August, the term of hard labor was reduced to 15 years.
