Giga Kvetadze Biography
About how the career of the musician was based on a step, who played a key role in it and what experience at first Georgia gave, and then Moscow over the years of creativity and life, Kvetadze told in an exclusive interview with Sputnik Georgia. Do you remember these first compositions? What do they mean for you now? And I once dreamed of becoming popular. And just these compositions, as you correctly noted, brought me popularity at home.
For a long time they kept in Georgian musical charts in the first lines. By the way, in a couple of years I really want to release a new version of the song "Ver Shegelevi" in Georgia. Because, whatever one may say, it is necessary to revive hits through years. And better when the author himself does it. My songs sang popular performers then and today, for example, Lelia Tsurtsumiya.
But in the year, when there were just concerts before the presidential election, the organizers called me and said: "You know, Giga, we have a list with artists who should participate in fifteen different concerts, and you have only four." To my question why, they answered the following: "Because you are not popular enough." This is despite the fact that then in Georgia there was a boom for my songs.
And I was very surprised to hear it from them. And he said that I would not speak at any of the concerts. Then friends, parliamentarians began to call me, began to find out why I did this. And I replied to them that it was unfair to offer me, quite popular then the artist, only four concerts, and others, objectively less popular - for fifteen performances. And then I realized that in a country where the concert activity of artists and all show business depends only on presidential or parliamentary campaigns, I cannot stay.
I had other planes for my career and creativity. And on the central, on federal channels, almost every day concerts of different artists are broadcast. Plus, I knew the Russian language well. This is a country where I like to live. What difficulties did you experience? Who helped you at first? And I want to tell him very much again that I had sheltered me in due time.
And so the first years, of course, it was very difficult for me. And, as Keti and Baigali later recalled, they really liked my composition. Moreover, it was she who played a big role in the fact that they had opted for Keti Topuria. And so with Keti I had a very warm relationship from Georgia. After my arrival in Moscow, I called up with her. Once he called her and offered one song, and she promised to let her listen to Baigali, but did not promise that she could definitely help.
So then, literally an hour later, Baigali called the Serkebaev and asked anyone not to give this song. Like, we take it. Keti is now playing a big role in my career. I wrote more than five songs for her. And I do not throw the idea of a solo career of the performer. I'm already working on it. I have accumulated a lot of copyright songs, from which I can make my solo program and give concerts.
But I don't want to. I want me to be known as a composer who writes good songs. But I do not forget to write songs and music for myself. Interestingly, you usually write your songs under some specific performers or first a song is written, and then you already think about who would offer it? It is easier for me, because you always know in which the song is written.
But, however, there are such moments when the song just comes to me and I write it. And then I think about who to offer it. They have Georgian motifs or you make more European options, what is the demand for the Russian stage for? And I think that in my songs there is definitely my handwriting, because both in Russia and abroad, everywhere they feel. In general, my songs are very melodic.
Of the last minor, this is the “churchuli” “whisper”, which I wrote for Nodar Revius.
How do you act in this regard? What do you offer? I offer my customers high -quality material, and they are addressing me for this. Now my turnkey song costs about seven thousand euros, if not more. My first solo song, single, will come out soon. I think by the end of spring. You have a wonderful wife, two -year -old son Nikush. Do you often come to Georgia?
And in general, are you planning to resume performances at home? And often, sometimes several times a year. Almost every summer I spend in Georgia. As for the performances, I had no concerts in Georgia for a long time. And this is very unpleasant. Maybe I'm to blame that I do nothing new. So I want to start thinking and working to ensure that in Georgia they also remember me, remembered how good music is being done.
There are good artists in Georgia, and, to be honest, I wonder why they do not make new music. Maybe nobody needs it?! Don't know. I communicate and keep communications with colleagues. There is always a desire to act, but the main thing is that the audience wants it. Now, as I see, no one wants anything and nobody. So we will work and hope for the best.
