Billy Moore Biography
The story of Billy Moore is unique. Like many guys in Liverpool, he loved to fight and performed at an amateur level. But Billy was not known at all because of success in the ring or champion belts. This was never in his life. Moore became famous for anesthesia, the fight against her, as well as an incredible will. It was she who allowed him to survive in one of the most dangerous prisons on the planet - the prime Klong in Thailand.
After that, Moore wrote memoirs, which became a bestseller, and Billy's story was transferred to the screen. The painting “Fights without Rules” was a world sensation, which showed how the Briton survived all the horrors and received early liberation thanks to the battles. Moore dreamed of becoming a great boxer, but all destroyed drug addiction. He started with the grass, and already at 17 hooked on heroin Billy was born in total poverty on the very edge of the social bottom.
Mother tried to feed the family in various ways, while his father drank hopelessly. Dad beat Moore as a child - often just for the sake of fun. Moore already at school age signed up in the boxing section, but he was prevented from achieving serious successes to drugs. It all started with the banal cannabis. I was 14 or 15 years old. Also at this time he began to drink.
It happened that it got to the point that I stole the tablets of Tamazepam from my aunt's handbag. And at the age of 17 I already switched to heroin. I was the eldest among six children in our family. The late father was an alcoholic, I just wanted to get out of this hell as soon as possible. I was looking for another environment for myself, but obviously I was looking for not in the places where it was necessary, ”Moore recalled.
From one hell, Moore soon fell into another. In the year, Billy went to rehabilitation from drug addiction to Thailand. And at first, things went well: he got a job as an English teacher in one of the schools and even acted as a stuntman on the set of Rambo - 4. Moore replaced Stallone in the dangerous tricks of Sylvester himself: “At the start of my stay in Thailand, I was absolutely clean, no drugs, I felt better than ever before.
Nevertheless, teaching English at school, not everyone understood me because of my Liverpool accent. In my free time, I boxed in Thailand in illegal battles, but there were no problems with the police. There it was in the order of things. The time of working with Sylvester Stallone in his film was very remembered. We even made friends while the filming process was going on.
” But after eight months, everything went awry. Moore increasingly participated in illegal battles to earn. Soon he began to drink and returned to the drugs again. He not only accepted them, but also sold them. At the same time, Thailand has severe laws regarding the use and distribution of drugs. Especially for foreigners. Soon, Billy was arrested on the denunciation of one of the customers, and he did not have to count on a fair trial.
Moore was instantly given for 3 years. She was not so large-about 4 people about 4 people, but soon for poor behavior I was transferred to the premium in Bangkok, where about 20 thousand people were already in conclusion, ”Billy said. The conditions in this prison are not just terrible, but more like the Middle Ages. Moore was just sleeping on the floor. It happened that he had to spend the night nearby with a corpse and transvestite.
But the worst is the contingent of the prison. Right before the eyes of Billy, group rape and murder took place in the prison cell. The real hell on Earth. In reality, there were things that I did not even see in the most terrible nightmares. People are cut right in the cells, and then thrown right on the floor, until the next day the wagon arrives and takes them. The leadership of the prison did not carry out any proceedings.
Group rape also took place almost daily. Often rape simply hung and in the morning they were taken by the same iron wagon.
The attacks took place like a flock of dogs per one. Never one on one, only a pack for one, ”Moore recalled. Billy was the only white in a cell, which is entirely consisting of Thais. Moore was often beaten, but due to boxing skills, he repulsed as much as he could. At least he was not raped. Based on the life of Moore, the film “Fights without Rules” was shot. He is wildly realistic, so you will not want to review him twice Thai boxing - this is more than just martial art in Thailand.
This is, first of all, a tribute to tradition. Muay Tay was in high esteem in the most brutal prison of the country. Moore became interested in them at the start for a banal reason - fighters eat better, train separately from cameras in the training room, plus the fighter just more opportunities to exist normally. But the main argument for Moore is the possibility of early exit. Each of the sectors of the prison exposed the strongest fighter, to defeat the interest of not only fighters, but also their warders in the prisoners' tournament, because it helped to advance in the service.
Still, it differs from classical boxing. In addition, the battles really did not go to life, but for death. But then I had nothing to choose from, I would rather really die than I was there. But returning back, I realized that Thai boxing really saved my life, ”said Billy. Moore won and received the desired early release. In the year, he was extracted from Thailand and continued to serve time already at his homeland.
Soon the king of Thailand pardoned him, and Moore was released. Returning to Great Britain, Moore wrote the book “The Praise Prayer”, where in the smallest details he talked about the horrors of detention in prison, Klong Pre. The memoirs overnight became a bestseller, so Hollywood producers with their hands tore the story of Moore.
