Biography of Mendel Gregor
Persons in the collection "Modern problems of computer science" Gregor Johann Mendel July 20, Heinreddorf, Silesia, Austrian Empire-January 6, Brno, Austria-Hungary, the main achievements: the discovery of the laws of inheritance of monogenic features, these patterns are now known as the laws of Mendel became the first step towards modern genetics. Processing of Mendel's botanical experiments is the first scientific task from the field of computer science, which laid the foundation for mathematical statistics.
Brief biography: Mendel - Austrian biologist and botanist, who played a huge role in the development of ideas about heredity. Johann Mendel was born on July 20 in the peasant family of Anton and Rosina Mendel in the small rural town of Hinendorf. In addition to Johann in the family, there were two daughters the eldest and younger sisters. From a year he studied at the Brunn Theological Institute.
In the year he became a priest. He independently studied many sciences, replaced the absent teachers of the Greek language and mathematics in one of the schools. By passing the exam for the title of teacher, he received, oddly enough, unsatisfactory grades on biology and geology. In the years, he taught mathematics, Latin and Greek in the Szymic gymnasium. In the period -53, thanks to the abbot, he studied natural history at the University of Vienna, including under the leadership of Unger - one of the first cytologists of the world.
Being in Vienna, Mendel became interested in the process of hybridization of plants and, in particular, different types of hybrid descendants and their statistical relationships. In the year, Mendel received the place of a teacher of physics and natural history in a higher real school in Brunn, not being a certified specialist. Inspired by the study of changes in the signs of plants, for a year he began to conduct experiments on the peas in the experimental monastery garden and formulated the laws explaining the inheritance mechanism, known to us as “the laws of Mendel”.
In the year, Mendel was elected rector of the monastery and did not engage in biological research anymore. Only at the beginning of the 20th century, with the development of ideas about genes, the whole importance of the conclusions made by him was realized after a number of other scientists, independently of each other, re -opened the laws of inheritance already withdrawn by Mendel.
Mendel died on January 6 of the year and was not recognized as his contemporaries. A plate with the inscription “My time will still arrive! Keywords: Genetics; information models; History of IT; Context search: set a sample for search:.
